Kate told off over Mariah

Kate Garraway is in trouble with her GMTV bosses for making comments about Mariah Carey's 'diva-like' behaviour.

The presenter wrote about Mariah's visit to the breakfast show in her column for new! magazine.

Kate, 42, claimed Mariah had two people to help her sit down on the sofa, to stop her creasing her dress, and even brought her own toilet roll.

She said: "I've heard rumours about her being a diva. Turns out it's all true. Have you ever heard anything like it?"

Kate also said the singer's entourage outnumbered the GMTV crew and included people behind the camera to check Mariah was being filmed from the right angle.

But when it was later revealed she hadn't even been in the studio at the time of Mariah's visit, the mum-of-two was forced to backtrack.

Challenging Kate's version of events, Mariah's spokesman said the claims were a "gross exaggeration."

The rep added: "With regards to the 'entourage', every star of Mariah's calibre is surrounded by a working team and Mariah doesn't actually have any more people working with her than any other major star."

Although GMTV has made no official comment, a source revealed: "Kate regrets what she wrote and has been carpeted by GMTV bosses.

"She was mis-informed. She apologised to Mariah and her bosses and knows what she said isn't true.

"She's planning to issue an apology in her column next week."
